Did you know I was in a rock band back in the day? It’s true! In the beginning, we called ourselves “Enemies of Mankind” but it didn’t quite fit. One night, we gathered together at a bar to come up with some names. The catch was, we had to incorporate the letters E-O-M. Simple, right? It wasn’t as easy as it sounds. I don’t know if it was the alcohol or just us giving in but what we came up with (settled on?) was, Elements of Motion.
After numerous shows played in and around Connecticut, we would go our separate ways. Keeping in touch, here and there, as you do in life. One summer we decided to have a reunion show. That was TWELVE years ago (July 9th)! We played a place known as The Whitney Bar & Grille at the time. It now goes by, Odie’s Place.

We recorded the show with both audio and visual. The audio still stands. I’m not sure of the video, only because it was recorded on VHS (remember that kids?). We were going to convert it to another format (dvd?) but I currently don’t have that. Now, do I “want” it, is the real question.
What I’m getting at is, we had cds pressed and my friend and fellow band mate, Chris “Jamo” Jamieson (bassist) worked alongside one another with the packaging of the cds. It was fun and it made me realize, I want to do this! You see, Jamo and I had gone to Paier College of Art. He graduated and I…did not. He had the tools and I had…ideas? Together we made quite the packaging. I’m proud of what we did.

Being that it’s the anniversary of that reunion show, I realized creativity isn’t just ONE thing. I’ve expressed myself musically, as well as being a visual artist and writer. Also, you don’t have to go to school necessarily to BE creative. They are places to hone your craft, sure, but it doesn’t define who you are and what you’re capable of. I mean, look at me! Thanks for reading. I like to end on this; Whatever your passion is, keep rockin’ it!
