Reely is a daily game of connecting movies by a common thread. The fewer, the better. Think, 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon. I was introduced to playreely.com by The Mikes over at Forgotten Cinema. They partnered with them at some point and asked their followers to share their results. Be it, messages, screen grabs, audio or…video. That’s all I needed to hear!
At first my videos consisted of me tucked away in a secluded spot at my day job. I held my phone up to my face and tried to connect the two movies the Mikes had curated. Then one day, I don’t know why, I decided to make it more…cinematic. When I would submit my results to the Mikes, they would share on their Instagram Stories. For 24 hours, whoever clicked on those Stories, would see these silly videos of mine. After the 24 hours were up, they were gone…that was until I decided to share them here.
This was the first one where it just clicked. I wanted to do my best Tom Cruise impression.
Anytime I can use my kid in my videos, it’s a good time. She’s up for anything. Especially making her dad look like a fool.
Hey, sometimes I don’t even need my kid to make myself look foolish. I do fine on my own.
Speaking of my kid…she’s back!
There are times I have an idea that I just HAVE to execute! This is one such moment. Again, I love that my kid is game for anything. This is one of my favorites.
I was initially going to wake up in a cold sweat like I had a nightmare. I scrapped it in favor for making a cup of coffee. Sometimes, the simplest of ideas…
Much like the previous video, I love props. Luckily, I had the gloves and mask handy for my video “session”, if you will.
If you draw your attention to the white board, you’ll notice what I’m already connecting. Again, props to the Props Dept. Lookin’ extra nerdy with my license as a security badge.
This particular week was tense. Reely said NOPE to my choice. I played through, regardless. Whoosah…
This Urban Legend will have you SCREAM with laughter…at least I hope you will.
And last but not least, my enjoyment with the use of props.
The whole point of my making these videos is Tri-fold:
1.) To sharpen my video editing skills.
2.) To follow through with an idea
3.) To have fun.
I hope to make more of these in the future. Even if it’s only for the Mikes, playreely.com, or those of you who click on my Stories. Take a break from the real world and enjoy the REEL world. You’ll be better for it.
