6 Degrees of Kathryn Newton

I was talking to a friend about my recent write up for Lisa Frankenstein. I told him about how in my review, I had stated, the movie will find its audience. He then asked if I’d seen an interview with Freddie Prinze, Jr. talking about Star Wars fandom and how the audiences expect movies to grow with them instead of catering toward a newer crowd. You can see that here: https://youtu.be/wYsnb61JPmM?si=ooPQdqu7feaDgqIx

That lead into a discussion of an episode of How I Met Your Mother, wherein Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) was discussing the age of his girlfriend by when/if she saw the original Star Wars. We springboarded into talking about the show and how I never finished it but I had heard of how it ended. Here ya go: https://youtu.be/EAEpwxxXpUo?si=fZJ8tU4WTZk8tn7U

He commented how it was sort of a cheat, only having Cristin Milloti (pictured on the right) in a handful of episode in a series about how the dad met his kids’ mom. That brought us to talking about Palm Springs (the only other thing I saw Cristin in) and how we both enjoyed it.

For a movie that used the idea of reliving the same day over and over, it shouldn’t have been as good as it was. There are many movies that use this premise and label them as being “Like Groundhog Day” but there are some standouts. Like one I like to mention as often as I can; The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, starring…Kathryn Newton!

I’d also like to add, we had this discussion earlier in the day…the day of Freddie Prinze, Jr.’s birthday! I mean, come on! What are the chances of THAT…? Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to buy more tinfoil I can make into a hat…
